Imbokodo Women’s Super Cup Kicks Off in Tembisa

Tembisa came alive with women’s football action on Monday, 15 December 2025, as Philly’s Games (www.phillysgames.co.za) officially kicked off the Imbokodo Women’s Super Cup at Tselasporo – Sangweni, Tembisa. The tournament, held under the powerful theme “For the Queens”, also formed part of #16DaysOfActivism, with Philly’s Games taking a strong stand against gender-based violence (GBV).

The opening day delivered thrilling performances across two grounds, showcasing the depth of women’s football talent in Gauteng and beyond. Speaking on the sidelines, Cameron Mathebula, COO of Philly’s Games, praised the rising stars of the competition, saying:

My favourite player is only 14 years old, playing with seniors.

The clash between Santos FC and Springs Ladies was one of the most gripping encounters of the day. After a hard-fought draw, the match went to penalties, where Santos showed remarkable resilience.

The encounter between Volovolo FC and Phomolong Ladies was intense and closely contested, eventually decided by penalties, with Volovolo FC securing progression.
